What is Steel-Plastic Composite Panel?

A steel-plastic composite panel is a new type of material formed by combining steel and plastic through specific processes. The following introduces its composition, characteristics, and application scenarios:

Composition Structure

  1. Metal Panel
    Usually made of stainless steel plates, galvanized steel plates, etc. For example, stainless steel-plastic composite panels often use 0.25mm or 0.30mm stainless steel plates as the front panel, which endows the composite panel with high strength, hardness, and corrosion resistance.
  2. Plastic Core Material
    Common types include thermoplastic plastics such as polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), polystyrene (PS), and thermosetting plastics such as polyurethane (PU). For instance, high-pressure low-density polyethylene (LDPE) is frequently used as the core material in steel-plastic composite panels to provide thermal insulation, heat preservation, sound insulation, and buffering effects.
  3. Back Panel (Optional)
    Some composite panels feature a back panel made of materials like stainless steel or aluminum alloy (e.g., 0.25 mm-thick stainless steel or 0.50 mm-thick aluminum alloy) to enhance the overall structural stability of the panel.

Characteristics

  1. Excellent Mechanical Properties
    The combination of steel’s high strength and rigidity with plastic’s toughness gives the composite panel bending resistance, impact resistance, and deformation resistance, enabling it to bear heavy external loads.
  2. Strong Corrosion Resistance
    Metal panels (e.g., stainless steel, galvanized steel) inherently resist corrosion, while the plastic core material effectively blocks external corrosive media. This makes steel-plastic composite panels highly durable in humid, acidic, or alkaline environments.

    The surface can undergo various treatments (e.g., film lamination, painting, printing) to simulate wood grain, stone grain, fabric patterns, or solid colors, meeting diverse architectural and decorative needs with highly realistic visual and tactile effects.
  4. Superior Thermal and Sound Insulation
    The plastic core material is an insulator for heat and sound, effectively reducing building energy consumption, improving indoor comfort, and minimizing external noise interference.
  5. Energy-Saving and Environmentally Friendly
    Recycled waste plastics can be used in production, aligning with environmental requirements. Additionally, its thermal insulation properties help reduce building energy consumption, contributing to energy conservation and emission reduction.
  6. Convenient Processing and Installation
    Relatively lightweight, the panels are easy to transport and install. They can be cut, bent, drilled, and otherwise processed as needed, ensuring high construction efficiency and shorter project timelines.

    Widely used in building curtain walls, roofs, interior/exterior wall decoration, partitions, and ceilings. For example, the facades of modern office buildings, shopping malls, and hotels often adopt steel-plastic composite panels to achieve unique architectural styles while ensuring durability and energy efficiency.

    Used in manufacturing the bodies and interiors of van trucks, refrigerated vehicles, train carriages, and ship cabins.
